Wedding headpiece created by Lakey Kristian Goff
Etsy is an online site to buy and sell all things handmade — among them art, purses, books, candles, pottery, clothing, crochet, jewelry, music, paper goods, quilts, toys and vintage. It's the perfect location to sell the unique hats and headbands crafted by central Arkansas designer Lakey Kristian Goff.
She uses vintage fabrics and feathers, found objects, and her own creativity, talent and imagination to craft each unique piece, complete with a romantic and mystical story on how it came to be.
"My work is made from the remains of yesterday and the pieces gathered from the palace floor," she says in her shop announcement.
Here's her description, slightly edited (we editors just can't help ourselves), of the wedding headpiece pictured here:
"I found a jeweled beaded gold and silver filament stitched piece of a tapestry that was made in England circa 1878 and pieced it together with a plume of white feathers, cheesecloth and a perfectly off-off-white grosgrain ribbon to make this nuptial piece. Step into that gown, pile on the jewels. ... the conjugal bed awaits ... or any masquerade, for that matter."
