Just about everybody likes to sing. Some are better at it than others. That's the idea behind Glorious!, a comedy based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York heiress and socialite who wanted to be a great operatic diva in the early 1900s despite having one of the worst singing voices in history.

The Arkansas Repertory Theatre production of Glorious! opens tonight (Friday, March 12) and continues through March 28. Curtain times are 7 p.m. Wednesday, 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday. For tickets call (501) 378-0405 or click here.

Written by Peter Quilter, Glorious! debuted in 2005 at the Duchess Theatre in London's West End. It ran in London for six months and over 200 performances. The play was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award as Best New Comedy. It came to North America at Theatre Calgary (starring Nicola Cavendish) in 2006 and has since played in over 20 countries and will soon celebrate its 2000th worldwide performance.
