Research on The Hill is translating into homegrown companies and desirable, tech-based jobs.
The University of Arkansas released information Tuesday that chronicles the businesses spawned by UA research over the last 20 years. These businesses are producing the kind of high-tech jobs states covet.
Fayetteville chancellor David Gearhart says:
This is clear evidence of the way the research conducted here at the University of Arkansas benefits the people of the state. Our goal is to help our researchers move the technology and inventions they develop from the lab to Arkansas businesses and from there to the markets of the world. We are making obvious progress achieving that goal.
While the opening of that new Chik-Fil-A on Cantrell Road is a wondrous thing, and the Work Blog applauds the jobs it creates (not to mention the vanilla shakes), Arkansas is beginning to shine in areas that can have far-reaching impacts such as wind-turbine manufacturing.
