Handicap: I’m playing to a 2, maybe. I’ve been scratch a couple of times, maybe a little better than that for brief periods. My game was pretty good 5 or 6 years ago.
How much do you play? In 2009, I played a grand total of 10 times. It was kind of a funny year. We sold the business. Although I had less things to do, there didn’t seem to be time for golf. I intend to change that around.
When/why did you take up the game? My brother (Curt Bradbury) got me interested when I was 8 years old. I did it because he did it. I played just to fill some time between football, basketball and baseball. When I was at Southwest Junior High, I won the junior high state championship. I beat Lee Smart of Pine Bluff. I actually beat him on the first playoff hole with a double bogey.
Where do you play? Mostly at Pleasant Valley when I play now. I try to play in a lot of tournaments. Stan Payne and I have played in 19 four-balls together and we’ve won something like 15.
What’s your best score? I shot a 66 at Pleasant Valley once. That was with 30 on the back side.
If you had to choose one amateur partner in a four-ball, who would that be? Stan Payne, absolutely. There are a lot of good players to pick, but I know Stan better than I know the others. If I had to get down in a foxhole, I’d pick him.
If you could partner with one pro, who? I’d certainly pick Tiger, but wouldn’t want to make him mad. I still think he’s the best.
“Caddieshack” or “Tin Cup”? “Tin Cup.”
What’s your best golf memory? Two, really — playing in the father-son with Junior [Ralph Jr., his son], and playing in the father-son with my dad. Those are things, until you’ve done them, it’s just hard to describe.
If you couldn’t be playing golf you’d be ….? Duck hunting, if that’s in season. Or just spending good quality time with my family.
What type clubs do you play/prefer? I’m playing a set of Cleveland Classic blades that came from the Tour van that I was lucky enough to get my hands on, a Titleist driver, Titleist 3-wood, Scottie Cameron putter.
What’s the best course you’ve played? I’ve played Augusta with my brother and Mr. [Jack] Stephens a few years back. Alotian is one of the finest courses I’ve ever stepped on, too.
The course you’d love to play but haven’t? I’d love to play Pine Valley. All the rants and raves it gets, that’s the place I’d like to see anyway.
What’s the best hole in Arkansas? No. 6 at Alotian. Probably the most aesthetic and incredible hole I’ve ever seen.
What could make the game better? I’d like to see someone achieve the level that Tiger Woods has on the PGA Tour and make it exciting when Tiger plays in a tournament.
