Handicap: +2. But I don’t give a whole lot of weight to it now.

How much do you play? It’s seasonal for me. In the summer, a couple of times a week. Maybe once a week in the high time, like a Sunday or Friday afternoon.

When/why did you take up the game? I was 10. My uncle, who is in the ASGA Hall of Fame, started me playing (Don White from Sparkman, who played for Baylor University and is still a mainstay on the ASGA senior tournaments). I became a huge golf nut. In the summers, I started asking my dad if he would take me to Rebsamen on his way to work. They had a good junior clinic. He’d drop me off at 7 a.m. and I’d stay until he picked me up at 5.

Where do you play? Mostly now at Pleasant Valley CC.

What’s your best competitive score? 64. That was in 1990, qualifying for the U.S. Amateur at Deer Run out at the Air Base, winning the qualifying. I had several 64s in professional golf when I was qualifying.

What amateur partner would you choose for that one four-ball match you had to win?
That is so hard, I’m going to get in trouble with a lot of people on that one. I’d say my uncle, Don. He’s the best putter I’ve ever been around.

If you could partner with one PGA pro, who?
Phil Mickelson.

“Caddieshack” or “Tin Cup”? “Caddieshack,” hands down.

What’s your best golf memory? Playing in the U.S. Open (Congressional CC, Bethesda, Md., 1997) and my dad was caddying for me. I made the cut and on Sunday it was Father’s Day, the whole experience of being there. I wrote “Happy Father’s Day” on his caddy’s bib and gave it to him on the first hole. He had been through the thick and thin of golf with me and that was fun.

If you couldn’t be playing golf you’d be ….?
Watching my sons play sports.

What type clubs do you play/prefer?
Ping Eye 2. I’m old school. I think it’s funny I’m thinking it’s old school now.

What’s the best course you’ve played?
Muirfield Village, Dublin, Ohio, is my favorite. I played it in the U.S. Amateur, 1992. I played Justin Leonard in the quarterfinals. I had him 4 down after nine holes, which is about the most enviable position to be in, and he just went Justin Leonard on me. A while back, I read an article in the Dallas Morning News where Justin was talking about rallying against Jose Maria Olazabal in the [1999] Ryder Cup from 4 down and he said he thought back to that match in the U.S. Amateur. I was reading that half choking and half laughing.

What’s the course you’d love to play that you haven’t?
Augusta National.

What’s the best hole in Arkansas?
No. 18 at the Alotian. It requires two really good shots and that’s just where the fun begins.

If they held a tournament of the top CEOs/businessmen in Arkansas, who would win it?
Warren Stephens, of course.
