Meet Bakari, a male lion who's a big fan of milk. Good thing, since Coleman Dairy is making it possible for lots of visitors to get a look at him Saturday (March 13) during Coleman Dairy Dollar Day at the Little Rock Zoo. Admission is $1 per person and includes free parking.
Zoo hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (last admission is at 4 p.m.). Regular admission is $10 with a parking fee of $2.
Bakari came to the Little Rock Zoo from the Pueblo Zoo in Pueblo, Colo. a little over a year ago when he was a year old. At first, visitors seldom saw him as he was afraid of the outdoors and tended to stay in his indoor enclosure. Gradually, he's gained the courage to come out and greet his admirers.
Other new arrivals include a pair of barking deer, a capybara, a female ocelot, four bush dog pups and a baby pale faced saki monkey (both born in September), and chimpanzee Kendi, born in August.
