Unfinished Business, oil painting by John Harlan Norris of Jonesboro, winner of Purchase Award, 2011 Small Works on Paper Exhibition

The Arkansas Arts Council is accepting submissions by Arkansas artists for the 2012 Small Works on Paper exhibition. Works selected by a juror will be included in a year-long exhibition that travels across the state. Deadline for entries is July 22.

To be eligible, artists must be members of the Arkansas Artist Registry or they may join for free at time of entry. The Registry is a comprehensive online gallery of more than 500 Arkansas artists and their work. It's a valuable resource for member artists to market their work and to connect to collectors, curators or anyone searching for artists and their art.

Arkansas artists may enter up to three works of art on paper of any medium (no larger than 24 inches by 24 inches) for a fee of $10 per entry or $25 for three entries. Entries will be juried by Marcia Goldenstein, an artist and art professor at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

Works must have been completed within the last two years. Up to $2,000 will be available for juror-selected purchase awards, which become part of the Small Works on Paper permanent collection.

Artists whose work is selected for the Small Works on Paper exhibition will be notified in September. The 2012 exhibition will open at the Laman Library, 2801 Orange St., North Little Rock, in January.
