Blake Rutherford on this week's Movies in the Park feature, Sixteen Candles, starring Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall.

Sixteen Candles, directed by John Hughes, is screening at sundown today (July 7) at Riverfest Amphitheatre in Little Rock's Riverfront Park as part of Movies in the Park. Admission is free.

The 1984 comedy concerns Samantha (Molly Ringwald) whose 16th birthday turns out to be anything but special thanks to her sister's wedding, goofy grandparents, her crush on the hottest guy in school, the unwanted attentions of the nerdiest guy in school, and the presence of a foreign exchange student with a rather racy name.

The park opens at 6:30 p.m. Bring lawn chairs (or sit in the amphitheatre seats) and coolers if you'd like (alcoholic beverages are OK, but no glass containers, please). Concessions will be available for purchase. Free bug spray can be found at the concession stands.
