A recent story in the New York Times describes what it's like to go a fashion fast of wearing six articles of clothing for one month (underwear, shoes and accessories don't count).

At the end of the month most dieters, along with being totally sick of those six items of clothing, discover that most people didn't notice they had been wearing the same things over and over.

The diet was founded by Sally Bjornsen of Seattle for a simple reason: 'I was sick and tired of consumerism,' she said. We all feel that way from time to time, but get over it as soon as we run across something like a half-price shoe sale.
