Group of Three Encounter by Gene Sparling

Aspects of Abstraction: Donnie Copeland and Gene Sparling will open with a reception from 5-8 p.m. today (Aug. 13) at Historic Arkansas Museum's Trinity Gallery in conjunction with downtown Little Rock’s 2nd Friday Art Night. Live music will be provided by Gentlemen Jazz. The artists will be present and their works will be available for purchase in the Museum Store.

As part of 2nd Friday Art Night, a free shuttle is available to transport visitors to other Art Night venues. Shuttle service ends at 8:30 p.m.

The show will continue through Oct. 31.

The work of Arkadelphia artist Donnie Copeland combines both the enjoyment of the material of painting and the process of painting.

The sculpture of Gene Sparling, who lives in the Ouachita Mountains near Hot Springs, draws upon the warmth and beauty of wood.

Historic Arkansas Museum is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday.
