Eight central Arkansas high school coaches leading teams in the 2010 Arkansas High School Kickoff Classic gathered Monday inside the newly renovated War Memorial Stadium pressbox to talk about rivalries of old and new ones being ignited.

ArkansasSports360.com Publisher Jeff Hankins thanked First Security Bank and other sponsors and introduced the coaches after announcing that the home schools would keep 100 percent of the ticket revenue sold in their communities.

This will be the first major event to take place at War Memorial this season after a summer spent building a new pressbox, changing the architecture of the 62-year-old stadium.

The Kickoff Classic will be played Aug. 30-31 with two games on each date. Vilonia and Sylvan Hills, two schools who have never faced off despite being just 30 minutes away from each other on Arkansas 107, will start the first game at 5 p.m. Monday (Aug. 30). Pulaski Academy and Central Arkansas Christian will play in Monday's second game at 7:30 p.m.

The slate on Tuesday (Aug. 30) begins with two Little Rock schools, Parkview and Mills, at 5 p.m. Cabot and Jacksonville continue a long rivalry, separated by just nine miles of U.S. 67/167, in the 7:30 p.m. evening contest.

Tickets are $7 per night. For more information contact one of the eight high schools, ArkansasSports360.com at (501) 372-1443 or 103.7 The Buzz at (501) 661-1037. Be sure to check out this month's digital edition of ArkansasSports360.com, devoted to the 2010 Arkansas High School Kickoff Classic.
