The long-awaited opening of Edwards Food Giant at Tanglewood (Cantrell Road and Mississippi Street in Little Rock) is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 11.
An opening ceremony featuring Gov. Mike Beebe and a ribbon cutting will take place at 8:45 a.m.
According to the store's website, the store will have service meat and seafood departments and will provide personalized service to customers.
Food Giant is taking over the Tanglewood location vacated when a Harvest Foods store (and another on Rodney Parham Road) were closed as part of Affiliated Foods’ bankruptcy and closure in 2009. They were replaced by Cranford’s Fresh World, which closed last summer after complications brought about by Affiliated’s bankruptcy proceedings.
