Our House, Inc. has immediate openings for seven AmeriCorps VISTA positions in Little Rock. AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer In Service To America) is a national service program involving educated, motivated people with year-long service opportunities.
Our House, Inc. provides the working homeless -- individuals and families -- with shelter, housing, job training, education, childcare and summer youth programs in order to equip them with the skills to be successful in the workforce, the community and their own families.
The following VISTA Member positions are available:
- The Campus Improvement VISTA will be responsible for identifying, designing, and implementing volunteer projects and programs which address the needs of grounds and building maintenance and rehabilitation at Our House.
- The Children’s Programs VISTA will work in the Little Learners Child Development Center developing programming, evaluation, assessment and record-keeping systems for an after-school program and a summer program for children ages 6–17 and a child care program for children ages 5 and under.
- The Community Engagement VISTA will be responsible for marketing and public relations that promote the mission and accomplishments of Our House.
- The Development VISTA works in the Administration Office tracking, thanking and recognizing donors, planning and implementing fundraising events and assisting the executive director with donor outreach efforts, board relations, and grant development and management.
- The Education and Workforce Specialist assists with program development, evaluation of students, data tracking, grant management, and development of the policies and systems involved in operating a full-time staffed Adult Learning Center for the working homeless.
- The In-kind Donations VISTA will be responsible for implementing and managing the in-kind donations process, soliciting and recording in-kind donations, and encouraging commitment of repeat in-kind donations of items to benefit the residents of Our House.
- The Volunteer Relations VISTA will be responsible for developing the policies and procedures for recruiting, coordinating, documenting, and acknowledging the contributions of volunteers.
VISTA Members are paid $833 per month and receive a $5,350 education award after completing a year of service.
Candidates will be selected by Sept. 10. These full-time year-long positions start Nov. 2 and end November 5, 2011.
