Turquoise-slab necklace by Shannon Jeffery.

Here is how Little Rock designer Shannon Jeffery explains her hand-crafted jewelry, priced from $15 for a simple pair of earrings to $200 for a string of pearls hand-knotted on silk thread:

  • I select one-of-a-kind pieces to be the focal point of a creation and add from there.
  • Inspiration might come from vintage brooches found at the bottom of a box at an estate sale, unique beads and buttons that caught my eye on my travels, or -- as odd as it sounds -- a small piece of yard art here and there.
  • I know the credo for "statement jewelry" is one of a kind. But I really do not ever make the same necklace, earrings or bracelet twice.
  • Many of the items that line the walls of my studio have been saved for years, just waiting for the right inspiration. And sometimes I don't know how a piece will turn out until I see it finished.

Shannon enjoys showing and selling her work through home shows, where she can meet her customers and show them the complete line, she says.
