Tropical Smoothie Cafe, 10221 N. Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The restaurant serves made-to-order wraps, sandwiches, salads, smoothies and offers breakfast sandwiches, wraps and flatbreads at all hours. 

"The 24-hour operation is going well," says Chris Kramolis, Tropical Smoothie Cafe area developer for Arkansas and Oklahoma. "My idea from the beginning was to market to people working in the hospitals overnight, and we are really seeing more and more late night call-ins.  We also get the late-night munchy crowd that wants a break from Taco Bell."

Kramolis staffs the cafe with one person from midnight to 6 a.m. "He is able to handle everything that comes in, especially since the larger orders are call-ins (501-224-2233). We also offer online ordering (order.tropicalsmoothie.com) that helps expedite the process with a one-person staff. As we roll into spring and summer, I'll start staffing a second person until 2 or 3 a.m. depending on traffic.

"All my friends and other franchisees thought I was crazy for even trying the 24/7 idea, but I just really felt like Little Rock was ready for a healthy choice for late night. We are only one of five Tropical Smoothies in the nation that are trying a 24 hour operation. The other four are in Las Vegas so we are somewhat pioneering here in Little Rock."
