Little Rock Soiree was there when President Bill Clinton, Mary Steenburgen, and other celebrities starred at a gala to dedicate the newly constructed Argenta Community Theater Saturday.
Main Street in North Little Rock was closed and transformed into a dining and performance venue for the celebration. Along with President Clinton, who delivered the keynote address, guests included Gov. Mike Beebe, filmmakers Brent and Craig Renaud, news anchor Dawn Scott, gardening expert P. Allen Smith, and Oxford American publisher Warwick Sabin.
Entertainment was provided by Lawrence Hamilton, Arkansas Festival Ballet, Ballet Arkansas and other performers.
The celebrations, chaired by Mary Steenburgen, started Feb. 17 with a free film screening of Small Town Murder Songs by the Little Rock Film Festival in the Sally Riggs Insalaco Theater, followed by an invitation-only dinner and dedication Feb. 18.
The theater, co-founded by Vince Insalaco and Judy Tenenbaum, is a nonprofit organization committed to serving the community thorugh education and advancement of the performing arts.
