
Area filmmakers are invited to show and discuss their work at 7 p.m. Saturday (April 2) at the Malco Theatre, 818 Central Ave., Hot Springs. It's being hosted by the Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute.
Films (or portions of films) on DVD, VHS or 16mm film must be under 10 minutes and must not be under copyright or have shown previously in Hot Springs. They can be complete films or works in progress.
A panel including producer/director Tim Jackson, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette film critic Philip Martin and me will discuss work shown.
To submit, bring your entry to the HSDFI Offices, 821 Central Ave, between 4-5 p.m. Saturday. HSDFI staff will accept the first 10 films submitted and put together a program between 5-7 p.m. Tim Jackson's Looking for Lurch, which won the Audience Choice Award at the 2010 Little Rock Film Festival, will be shown at 5:15 p.m. (a $5 donation is requested), followed by a Q&A with Jackson at 6:30 p.m.
Five of the Open Screening films will be shown from 7-7:45 p.m., followed by discussion and critique. The remaining five will be screened at 8 p.m., followed by discussion and critique.
