Arkansas Lightning

Arkansas Lightning (a.k.a. moonshine, although it's really not) from Little Rock's Rock Town Distillery can be found in area liquor stores at a suggested retail price of $14.99 for a cork-finished 375-ml bottle.

The beverage, crafted from slowly distilled Arkansas corn and wheat, was recently reviewed by the Beverage Tasting Institute, which awarded it a Gold Medal with a rating of 91 out of 100.

Here's what the reviewers had to say: “Bold aromas of wet grain sack, crushed whole nut, and crusty artisanal raisin bread with a vibrant, silky dry-yet-fruity medium-full body and a hot and spicy dusty gravel road finish. Opens up to some attractive macadamia nut brittle and spice cake notes with a touch of water. Very interesting and distinctive; will be great in cocktails.”
