Kinky Friedman

Kinky Friedman -- author, musician, politician, humorist and self-proclaimed Governor of the Heart of Texas -- will be on stage at 9 p.m. Thursday (April 28) at Juanita's, 1300 S. Main St., Little Rock.

He'll be playing the songs for which he is best known such as They Ain't Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore and Sold American, reading passages from his books, and carrying on a running commentary on the state of the union. 

Friedman, who has toured with Bob Dylan and appeared as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live, was an independent Texas gubernatorial candidate in 2006 (he placed fourth in a six-person race). He writes a bi-monthly column for Texas Monthly and is co-authoring a book with actor and Hot Springs native Billy Bob Thornton.
