
TheatreSquared's Arkansas New Play Fest -- staged readings of four original plays -- is happening Saturday (May 21) and Sunday (May 22) at Argenta Community Theater in the Argenta Arts District, 405 Main St., North Little Rock.
The plays, presented by Arkansas Repertory Theatre, and their showtimes:
- 4 p.m. Saturday: They Want by Alan M. Berks, directed by Robert Ford
- 8 p.m. Saturday: Disfarmer by Werner Trieschmann, directed by Kate Frank
- 3 p.m. Sunday: In The Book Of by John Walch, directed by Amy Herzberg
- 7:30 p.m. Sunday: Look Away by Robert Ford, directed by Robert Ford
Each script is rehearsed, staged and performed by professional artists, script in hand, for the public and playwright. There will be a talkback session with the playwright and the cast following each reading. To read descriptions of each play click here.

In conjunction with the play readings, Greg Thompson Fine Art and PDC Construction will host a women's luncheon at noon Friday (May 20) at Greg Thompson Fine Art, 429 Main St., North Little Rock. Featured speaker will be regional artist William Dunlap on the topic Confessions of an Itinerant Painter. Tickets are $15 and available at http://bestofthesouth.eventbright.com.
Starving Artist Cafe is offering a free chef's choice dessert with purchase of an entree to Arkansas New Play Fest patrons with a valid ticket stub on Saturday (May 21).
Cregeen's Irish Pub is offering half-priced appetizers and $1 off Guinness to Arkansas New Play Fest patrons with a valid ticket stub on Sunday (May 22).
