Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Rides to Little Rock and the kickoff of the Arkansas Civil Rights Heritage Trail at 2 p.m. today (July 10) at the Old State House Museum, 300 W. Markham St., Little Rock.
The event, hosted by the Institute on Race and Ethnicity and the Department of History at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, will include the dedication of a plaque to honor the Freedom Riders' stop at the corner of Markham and Louisiana streets in Little Rock and a performance by the United Voices of Gaines Street Baptist Church Choir.
There will also be an Arkansas Civil Rights Heritage Trail ribbon cutting, addresses by Freedom Riders and refreshments. Admission is free.
