Jason D. Williams in a typical piano-playing position
Some of you will remember him from his riotous shows at Cajun's Wharf in the 1980s. He's back, and he hasn't slowed down any.
Piano rock 'n' roller Jason D. Williams headlines at Revolution Music Room, 300 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock, on Thursday (June 30). Opening the 18-and-over show at 9 p.m. are Little Rock's Charlotte Taylor & Gypsy Rain.
A native of El Dorado, the now-Memphis resident and longtime Sun Studios recording star is often compared to Jerry Lee Lewis — so much so, in fact, that rumors began years ago in Memphis that he is actually the Killer's son.
Hollywood has even taken notice, making Williams the pianist in Great Balls of Fire, the 1989 film about Jerry Lee Lewis' life starring Dennis Quaid (it's Williams' hands you see playing the piano in every hand-and-keyboard shot).
Williams' newest album, Killer Instincts, kicks off with a track titled Like Jerry Lee. But there he departs from his would-be mentor, with help from producer Todd Snider and two former members of the Georgia Satellites filling out the songs.
