Martha Dixon

Martha Dixon, a 65-year old Clark County resident who gained international recognition for designing elegant gowns for Hilary Clinton in the late 1880s and '90s when Clinton was first lady of Arkansas, is Little Rock Fashion Week's Fashion Icon of the Year.

A graduate of Peake High School in Arkadelphia, Dixon attended Henderson State University and received a degree in fashion and design from Commercial Technical Institute in Little Falls, N. J.

Dixon designed gowns for Clinton including the 1986-1987 Arkansas gubernatorial inaugural ball and the 1992-1993 Presidential gala and is the founder of Martha's Fashion and Design, Dixon Manufacturing, and Dixon Kids.

The Fashion Icon Award will be presented to Dixon July 16 during LRFW's Posh Expression Fashion Experience. Tickets are $35 general admission and $45 VIP. They're available at LittleRockFashionWeek.com, Gallery 26 and RK Collections. Call (501) 240-7004.
