A gaming section for Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 can be found on Level 4 for teenagers at the Main Library.
Level 4, a 9,700 square-foot area of the Main Library at 100 Rock St., Little Rock that's dedicated to teenagers, is open with books, DVDs, audio books, a gaming section, and 10 computer stations.
Admission is free.
The new section features areas for quiet study, group study/projects/activities, food/snacks, and gaming and other noisier activities. The flow of space ensures the needs and preferences of teens are accommodated.
Along with books, DVDs, and audio books geared to teen readers, Level 4 has 10 computer stations and a gaming section for Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Future plans for programming include gaming, crafts, college prep, technology, Internet safety, and cooking.
The decor includes fun furniture, neon-like lighting, colorful paint and carpet, and lockers where personal belongings can be stored. The snack area is reminiscent of a soda shop with booths, high tables and stools.
The section will be open from 1-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 1-6 p.m.Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
Level 4 is part of a $5 million remodel of the Main Library, which was funded through a capital improvement tax approved by Little Rock voters in December 2007.
