Detail of The Mirror (1981), oil on vellum by Will Barnet
Will Barnet at the Arkansas Arts Center: A Centennial Exhibition, a celebration of artist Will Barnet’s 100th birthday, is on view through Jan. 15 at the AAC, Ninth and Commerce streets, Little Rock.
Eighty drawings and five prints, drawn from the Arts Center’s collection, include a gift of 71 drawings donated by the artist in 2001.
Barnett has experienced all the major art movements in American modern art. He was influential in negotiating a transition from figural art to abstraction in the '40s and '50s and was also a teacher at the Art Students League in New York, which helped shape some of America's most original modern artists such as Jasper Johns.
A full-color catalog accompanies the exhibition and will be for sale in the AAC Museum Shop.
Admission is free. For more information call (501) 372-4000 or click here.
