Eggshells Kitchen Co. is a hub of activity -- and a great source of snacks -- during Happy Hour in the Heights.
Here's an insider's guide to Happy Hour in the Heights, held on the third Thursday of each month with stores in the Pulaski Heights neighborhood of Little Rock staying open until 8 p.m. or thereabouts, serving libations and snacks and offering sales and specials to customers.
Where to park: Parking along Kavanaugh Boulevard, where most Heights shops are located, is pretty much hit and miss. You'll have better luck heading one street north to residential Stonewall Road, which runs parallel to Kavanaugh. Don't block anyone's driveway. Or park in the lot by European furniture and accessories specialist White Goat at 5624 R St.
Getting around: You can jump on and off a free trolley that runs along the main drag of Kavanaugh Boulevard, but if the weather is pleasant it's fun to walk from one shop to the next.
Best locations for free adult beverages: Looking for a glass of wine? Head to neighborhood booster Charlotte John Company at 5811 Kavanaugh, where the real estate agents are inside offering generous pours of decent wines along with simple snacks. There is usually musical entertainment and a lot of dog walkers clustered in front of the office, which makes it even more fun.
Another good free wine destination is Stephano's Fine Art Gallery at 5501 Kavanaugh. Drinks are in the back. Say hello to Diego, the gallery's charming resident canine, while you're there.
Best shopping: Eggshells Kitchen Co., 5501 Kavanaugh, always has something special on sale, plus amazing snacks, from 5-7 p.m.
