Make good use of those leftover candy canes when Christmas is over.

You probably have about a zillion unconsumed candy canes around the house after Christmas. Here are some ideas from the crafts website makeandtakes.com on what to do with them.

Crushed candy canes make for great dessert toppings or ingredients: Pies, ice cream, brownies, cookies, cakes, peppermint whipped cream (you can freeze this for later use). It's best to puree them in a blender (five crushed candy canes make about 1/2 cup) to make a much finer taste when mixed into another dessert.

Dip candy canes in chocolate then use them in milk, chocolate milk, hot chocolate, coffee, whatever. If you don’t want to dip them, use them as a stir stick with a hot drink.

You can bake candy canes, then move them into fun shapes. Bake two candy canes together to make a heart -- perfect for Valentine's Day, which will be here before you know it. Or break off pieces and shape them into letters.
