Ozark Medieval Fortress no longer welcomes visitors to its site, 22 miles north of Harrison.

Boone County's Ozark Medieval Fortress, a castle under construction near the Arkansas-Missouri border using 13th-century tools and methods, is no longer open to visitors.

Why? Money problems. Founder Michel Guyot, a French archeologist who has renovated several castles, is seeking investors or a buyout.

The fortress had been charging an admission fee of $18 for adults and $9 for children as well as selling a Wall Builder's Ticket ($225) which allowed visitors to choose and mark a stone to be added to the fortress wall.
