From early adolescence to menopause and beyond, the providers and staff at West Little Rock Women’s Center strive to meet the needs, yet exceed the expectations, of all women in regard to their gynecologic health. The modern, serene office facilities provide a calming environment along with the technological convenience of on-site ultrasonography and DEXA bone densitometry.

Dr. Julia Watkins, board certified in gynecology and obstetrics, leads the team with almost 20 years experience in practice locally. Since retiring from obstetrics in 2004, Dr. Watkins has focused her practice on providing the best in gynecologic care for women prior to, during, and after their child-bearing years. She is committed to improving the health and well-being of every woman in a caring, comfortable and relaxing environment. In addition to complete in-office gynecologic care and procedures, Dr. Watkins also performs various surgical procedures for abnormal gynecologic conditions including endometrial ablation for heavy menstrual bleeding.

Two Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners, Becca Mehlin, APN, and Jami Smith, APN, work in conjunction with Dr. Watkins to help better serve the gynecologic needs of patients. Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners (WHNP) are masters-prepared nurses who are board certified to provide full routine well woman exams and address many gynecologic problems as well as perform certain in-office procedures and also have prescriptive authority.

Becca Mehlin, APN, has 12 years in clinical practice and has been on faculty at UAMS for seven years as a clinical instructor in the WHNP program. Her clinical interests include contraception/family planning, well woman exams, menopause management and pelvic floor problems. She is also certified by ASCCP in colposcopy.

Jami Smith, APN, has six years in clinical practice and has a passion for adolescent, teen and early adult gynecology. Her clinical interests include education of all women in regards to female health, STD education and treatment, menstrual irregularities, contraception, and family planning.

Together, the providers offer 38 years of experience in caring for women. They and the staff of West Little Rock Women’s Center can meet the gynecologic needs of women across the life span providing excellent, state-of-the-art care to insure women are adequately informed to make the best decisions to meet their specific gynecologic health needs.
