From January 7 to March 2, patrons will have the chance to read or listen to a book of their choice and submit their review during Central Arkansas Library System's "New Year, New Reads" winter reading program.

It's a new year and if your resolution includes reading a bit more, you're in luck.

The Central Arkansas Library System will be launching its "New Year, New Reads" adult winter reading program Monday (Jan. 7), where patrons can read or listen to any book available at the library and submit a review for a chance to win one of several prizes.

From January 7 to March 2, readers can submit reviews of their book(s) of choice in one of three ways: at a CALS branch, via email to NewYearNewReads@cals.org or on Twitter using the hashtag #NewYearNewReads.

The CALS branch will display all of the reviews submitted and most branches will have drawings for door prizes from all the reviews received. Each branch will have its own rules and prizes for the months-long contest. Branches are listed here.

There will be one big prize that might get your attention: A Kindle Fire will be awarded for the most creative book review of all entries submitted online. Reviewers tweeting or emailing reviews of 140 characters or less will be entered into the contest.

The program is free and open to the public. Pick up reading suggestion bookmarks and review cards at the circulation desk of any CALS branch.
