Art classes have been offered at the Arkansas Arts Center since 1960.

Get a look at some of the artwork created by some of the very Arkansas Arts Center Museum School instructors who have helped others reach their full artistic potential.

Today (Jan. 11), the Museum School Faculty Exhibition: Past and Present is getting underway at the Sam Strauss, Sr. Gallery in the Arkansas Arts Center, 501 E. Ninth St., Little Rock.

Running in conjuction with the Arkansas Arts Center's 50th Anniversary celebration, the exhibit showcases a variety of artwork created by current museum school faculty, as well work from the permanent collection by former faculty members.

The exhibit will run until March 10.

Art classes have a long history at the arts center. The first classes for children and adults began in 1960. After the facility was completed in late spring 1963, the staff was comprised of 13 professional artists who offered 32 different classes to 300 students. Today, the museum school has more than 50 art professionals and offers 80 classes in all art disciplines to 600 students per quarter.
