Looking to put a little pep in your step?
Trail running might be the answer this winter.
There are three races left in the Arkansas Trail Series. The series -- 6 races overall-- is geared toward first-time trail runners with distances between 3 - 5 miles.
Here are the three races remaining in the series:
- Scout Train Run in North Little Rock (Saturday, Jan. 26): This 3.8-mile run is on dirt roads and single track at Burns Park, I-40 Exit #150. The race starts at 10 a.m., with packet pickup and race-day registration from 8 - 9:30 a.m. Click here to register.
- Cadron Trail Run at Conway (Saturday, Feb. 9): The 4.2-mile trail run will be at Cadron Settlement Park, 6200 Hwy. 319 The course is a combination of 85 percent single track, 10 percent double track and 5 percent pavement. Start time for the race is 10 a.m., while packet pickup and race-day registration is from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. Register here.
- Spa City Trail Run at Cedar Glades Park in Hot Springs (Saturday, March 17): The last run of the series is 3.8 miles and will be on the Blue Loop of the Cedar Glades Park trail. The run will be a combination of 85 percent single track, 10 percent forest roads and 5 percent pavement. The race starts at 10 a.m. with packet pickup and race-day registration from 8:30 - 9:45 a.m. Register here for the race.
For those with a competitive spirit, these races are also a chance for runners to gain points toward becoming the Arkansas Trail Series Champion. Runners accrue points for rankings by competing in at least two races during the trail series. Points are given based on age-group placement and the top three scores throughout the series are calculated to determine the winner.
