Love opera?

Many think the performing art should be a part of the scene in Little Rock.

This includes Opera in The Rock, a nonprofit that has a purpose to bring a professional opera company to help enrich the cultural life of Arkansas by utilizing local, state, and regional artistic talents.

In order to do this, the nonprofit holds several events throughout the year to raise awareness and funds. This includes the "Opera on the Rocks II," which is coming up on Feb. 1. at the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock.

Starting at 6:30 p.m., event-goers will be able to enjoy drinks, hors d'oeuvres, a live auction including a live painting by Stephano Sutherlin of Stephano's Fine Art Gallery, and delightful music provided by local talent.

Live auction items include:

  • "Destiny" - painting by Stephano Sutherlin
  • An overnight stay at the Capital Hotel, dinner at Ashley's, and a wine pairing for two
  • A gorgeous pair of Meus Designs earrings, provided by Stanley Jewelers
  • A hand beaded scarf by New York designer Cynthia Rose
  • A private luncheon for 10 women including lunch, beverages, and a makeup and fashion show at B. Barnett

Natalie Canerday, actress in more 25 films including "October Sky" and "Sling Blade," will be the emcee and auctioneer for the evening.
