Freegal, a new free service offered by CALS, allows patrons to sign in with their library card number and PIN number and download up to three free songs per week.

The Central Arkansas Library System offers patrons so many forms of entertainment for free-- of course, books (print, e-books and audiobooks), as well as DVDs and magazines.

Now you can add music to that list of entertainment offerings.

The library system is now providing Freegal, a music downloading service that allows patrons to download three free songs a week with a CALS library card.

Freegal allows patrons to sign in with their library card number and PIN number and download up to three free songs per week. The songs are downloadable in MP3 format and work with just about any device and software, including iTunes and Amazon. Freegal apps are available for Apple and Android.

Patrons may browse by artist or genre, and advanced search allows searching by song, album, composer and even label. Through Freegal, users will be able to choose from millions of songs from 65 different countries and thousands of labels, including the labels of Sony Music Entertainment.

Freegal can accessed here, or by going to the CALS website and clicking on the Digital Music Catalog link.
