Nominations for the Josetta Wilkins Awards, recognizing breast care activists who go above and beyond the call of duty, are being sought by the Arkansas Department of Health and BreastCare. Nomination deadline is Friday (Feb. 22).
The awards, named in honor of former state representative Josetta Wilkins of Pine Bluff whose efforts in the state legislature resulted in the establishment of the BreastCare program, are given annually to a volunteer, a professional and an organization that make the fight against breast cancer a top priority and raise breast cancer awareness in Arkansas.
BreastCare is a comprehensive program at the Arkansas Department of Health, providing free breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnosis for eligible Arkansas women.
Individuals and organizations may be nominated for their work in breast cancer education, research, advocacy, treatment, support or services for those in need.
To make a nomination, fill out the online nomination form and submit a brief summary explaining why the nominee should be recognized.
