Here's an interested stat: More than 40 percent of central Arkansas households own a dog, with the City of Little Rock boasting more than 50,000 dogs in nearly 30,000 homes.
Currently, Little Rock currently has just one Parks and Recreation-operated dog park in the Riverdale area of town. With this in mind, the capital city has decided to offer a new place for pooches to play this spring-- the MacArthur "Unleashed" Dog Park.
MacArthur Unleashed Dog Park, under construction at the moment, will be located on the southeast corner of MacArthur Park, 601 E. 9th St., at the corner of MacMath and Pulaski County Lane (across from the law school).
It will include a large and small play area, as well as a patio area, a couple of drinking fountations, a concrete walk-through, boulders, and gravel and dog spray areas.
Look for its grand opening to be on March 30, tentatively set for noon. The nonprofit's website will be online soon. Stay up-to-date on the construction and check for finalized time and details on the grand opening on its Facebook page.
