The male winner of Little Rock Marathon 2013 was two-time winner and defending champion Mark Chepses, age 36, of Des Moines. Chepses finished with a time of 2:19.45.

Helen Rotich of Manor, Texas, has won her second Little Rock Marathon with a time of 2:47:12. She ran for Harding University in her collegiate career and won the Little Rock Marathon in 2008.

Defending four-time Little Rock Marathon Women’s Champion Leah Thorvilson made the decision mid race to quit the marathon race and instead complete the half marathon. The 34-year-old Thorvilson has been plagued by left hip and hamstring injuries since May 2012.

Christy and Luke Nipper of Little Rock begin the 2013 10K with their one-year-son, Miles, in the stroller. They finished the race at 56:40. The Nippers hope that Miles will develop the same love of running that they have.

Jeremy Mark of Fort Worth, Tex., popped the question to his now-fiance’ Christina Garcia, also of Fort Worth. She said, “Yes!”


It was quite chilly, but the sun was out in full force during Sunday's 2013 Little Rock Marathon's 10K, half-marathon and marathon races.
