Discount tickets are available for admission to the World of the Pharaohs exhibit at the Arkansas Arts Center.

Through Feb. 28, the Arkansas Arts Center is offering a coupon on its Web site for $5 off regular tickets priced at $22. It continues to offer a matinee special from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday when tickets are $14. Children 5 and under are admitted free.

Look for more discounts to crop up; a Sunday story in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette notes that the exhibition, which hopes to attract 300,000 visitors during its 10-month run through July 5, has brought in a little more than 40,000 people since it opened Sept. 25.

To take advantage of the full run of the exhibit, the arts center will be open on July 4, a Sunday, and July 5 — days it would normally be closed.

Attendance should begin to build in March with students on spring break and continue growing into summer, according to Arkansas Arts Center executive director Nan Plummer.

“We know those folks are coming ... I think folks who live here are thinking ‘Oh, you know I’ve got plenty of time to go see it,’ and they do,” Plummer said in the Democrat-Gazette story. “Shows like this always do have a great big run up toward the end.”
