Last week, we were able to get a sneak peek of South on Main, the new restaurant associated with the Oxford American magazine, during the Arkansas Arts Center's Contemporaries Happy Hour Mixer.

And next week, the Southern eatery will open its doors for lunch on a regular basis.

It was announced on its Facebook page Monday (July 29) that it will officially open its doors Monday (Aug. 5) for lunch service from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Some of the food you can expect include main dishes like Chicken Thighs and Grilled Ribeye Cap, as well as Deviled Egg Salad and Kale Salad, and a variety of apps (they call it "snacks"), soups, SoMa classics and specialty desserts.

This week, they are training staff on lunch service, so you may see people in their space at 1304 Main St., but they are not officially open to the public yet.

It was announced back in November that Matt Bell, a former sous chef with the Capital Hotel, would lead the Southern-style eatery housed in the former home of Juanita's.
