Humane Society of Pulaski County needs help in caring for 150 small-breed dogs recently acquired from a retiring breeder.
According to Kay Simpson of the HSPC, these little dogs, handed over by a retiring breeder, have been living, breeding and raising puppies in cages. They won't even know what the ground or grass is. In order to assess the health of all the dogs, they will need to be in quarantine before they can be offered for adoption.
Can you help? The shelter, located at 14600 Colonel Glenn Road (501-227-6166) needs:
- Small bites dog and puppy food
- Canned food (for dogs with teeth problems and poor nutrition)
- Meat baby food (chicken, turkey, beef)
- Puppy replacement milk
- Wire floor cages (desperately needed)
- Newspapers
- Bedding
- Bath towels
- Bath mats
- Blankets, comforters, gently used or new sheets
- Harnesses, collars, leashes
- Stainless steel feeding bowls
- Heating pads
- Dog sweaters, infant T-shirts and body suits to keep the dogs warm (most of them will need to be shaved)
