Children ages 4-12 are invited to compete in the first Windstream Youth Sports Expo on Saturday, May 8, at War Memorial Stadium.

The event, presented by Little Rock-based Windstream, features individual competition in five sports plus a cheerleading skills session and performance. Proceeds will benefit five central Arkansas youth sports organizations: Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arkansas, Junior Deputy, The First Tee of Central Arkansas, LifeCHAMPS and the YMCA of Metropolitan Little Rock.

The competition in four different age groups for boys and girls begins at 9 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony. Updated standings will be posted on the event website throughout the day so families can visit the expo any time.

Participants will be able to visit each sports station at the stadium to compete, and exhibitors will promote summer and fall activities, camps and sports training. The competitions and activities include:

  • Boys & Girls Clubs Basketball Hot Shot
  • Junior Deputy Home Run Derby
  • LifeCHAMPS Pass & Kick Challenge
  • The First Tee Closest to the Pin & Hole-in-One (also open to adults)
  • Westside YMCA Soccer Shootout
  • YMCA Cheerleading Skills Sessions & Performance
  • Little Rock Family Ultimate Touchdown Dance Competition

Admission is $5 per person plus competition entry fees. Participating youths can buy an MVP pass for $25 for admission and all competitions, or families can buy an MVP Family pass for $50 for admission and all competitions for the entire family. Proceeds benefit the five nonprofit youth organizations.
