In September, a swarm of excitement -- and bugs -- invaded the Museum of Discovery. But this invasion was met with screams of delight, not terror, as Terminix's traveling exhibit Harry's Big Adventure: My Bug World! made its debut.
Families get to explore freestanding insect habitats and even a house to see how insects and arthropods impact their surroundings, the environment and ultimately human lives. Children will go from being frightened by bugs to finding them fun, especially during special weekend programs like the live insect petting zoo, cricket spitting competitions and roach races.
Beyond all that, the exhibit brings with it a special demonstration -- cooking with bugs -- for families to "Ew" and "Aw" at. A swarm of bug chefs will share the cooking duties, hosting live demonstrations and bug-tasting events every Saturday and Sunday through Jan. 9.
Bug Chef Jayme S. Necaise, director of animal & visitor programs at the Audubon Insectarium in New Orleans, will be one of the chefs cooking up crickets and other tummy-tickling treats for brave families to sample.
Learn more about the chef in our November Q&A with him in our digital edition or on our website here.
