Get up close and personal with frogs, toads, salamanders and snakes during Cold Blooded Creatures.
Snakes, alligators and frogs, oh my! The Museum of Discovery invites you to get creepy crawly during Cold Blooded Creatures Jan. 27-29. One of the Museum’s most popular events for the past 10 years, Cold Blooded Creatures invites guests to meet and touch non-venomous snakes and view representatives of the six venomous snakes found in Arkansas. Animal handlers from the Museum of Discovery, the Central Arkansas Herpetological Society and the Little Rock Zoo will be on hand to provide valuable information so people can recognize venomous and non-venomous snakes, along with lizards, turtles, alligators, frogs, toads and salamanders.
“People are not born afraid of reptiles or amphibians,” said David Westbrook, Museum Educator. “They learn to be afraid, often from wrong information in popular culture, like movies, or well-meaning adults who do not know the facts. We want people to be informed and empowered, not afraid.”
Showtimes are at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Jan. 27-28 and 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Jan. 29. Cost is included in museum admission. For info: 396-7050.
