The theme of this edition is “New Year, New You,” and we’ve lined up plenty of local experts to share their tips and advice for starting 2012 out strong — no matter what your resolutions are.
First, I’m extremely excited about our cover story. Associate editor Lindsay Irvin wowed us this month by securing an exclusive interview with Becky Comet, a mother and teacher from Benton who came in fourth on the most recent season of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.” Becky shares what life on the ranch was like and her hopes for how she can inspire her students at Benton Middle School.
Second, local Stroller Strides owner Susan Robinson shares her secrets for how moms can make fitness and good nutrition a priority — despite being sleep-deprived and running in a million directions. I’ve worked out with Susan for almost a year now and have personally benefitted from her coaching and guidance. I’m thrilled she agreed to share her knowledge with Little Rock Familyreaders.
Also in this edition, I’m pleased to introduce our new Ages & Stages section. Every month, we’ll bring you parenting articles designed for every stage of childhood, from tots to tweens.
We begin this month with articles on working out at the gym with babies, why children should take yoga, everything you need to know about youth soccer, and a discussion of body image and tweens.
We’re also expanding our calendar section, adding an “Out & About” feature that give you in-depth info about one must-do event in every edition. This month, we preview the new facilities and exhibits at the Museum of Discovery, which re-opens to the public on Jan. 14.
We have lots of great things planned this year — and a few surprises along the way. We’re glad you’re along for the ride.
