Greg took this on Martin Luther King Day. It's actually a two-photo blend, one shot with a quick shutter for the sky and another with a long shutter to smooth out the water. Enjoy!
The first-ever Juggling Act Photo of the Week is by my friend, Greg Henderson. Greg is also in the marketing world, but I actually met him via the active Little Rock Twitter community (he's @jgreghenderson on Twitter). Greg is a member of Arkansas Business' first group of "20 In Their 20s." He's also a dad-to-be and an outstanding photographer who is looking to grow his passion into more than just a hobby. You can see more of his work here.
This picture is of Little Rock's Big Dam Bridge. Not only does it have the best name EVER for a bridge, the Big Dam Bridge also is a really great addition to central Arkansas' outdoor offerings. It is perfect for those behemoth jogging strollers and your bike with the trailer attached. It's also a great way to remind ourselves how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful state. From the top of the bridge, you can see the winding Arkansas River, Pinnacle Mountain and the downtown Little Rock skyline. All that in one breathtaking view. You can't help but feel good walking across that bridge!
A couple of years ago I wrote a profile for Arkansas Business' Green Guide on Judge Buddy Villines, who is the "godfather" of the Big Dam Bridge. His "baby" is the world's longest bridge built specifically for pedestrians and cyclists. Here's what he said the bridge means to him:
“That bridge lets residents see how beautiful this place is. Standing on the bridge, overlooking the Arkansas River really begins to change your perspective about things. We could do a lot of great things to continue increasing the value of this area.”
I couldn't agree more, Judge Villines.
