This month’s Brown Bag program, presented by Kelly Jones, describes the lives and experiences of former slaves, like Aaron Brooks, who fled cotton farms and plantations in Arkansas during the Civil War to join the 54th United States Colored Troops (USCT). Jones will discuss their wartime activities and challenges, and where they lived and worked in the years following the war.
