    Every poet has a poem which no one has ever heard. Whether it be the old poem they forgot they wrote, the new poem they haven't had a chance to share, or that weird thing that was way too embarrassing to acknowledge.

    Therefore, it is fitting that the inaugural Awkward Poetry Slam encourages (but does not require) poets to bring at least one of these poems. The New Year, New Poetry Slam offers 2 rounds of competition to the first 12 people to sign up.

    Registration opens at 6 p.m.

    The Awkward Poetry Slam is a monthly poetry event which challenges participants by juxtaposing the poetry slam format against varying themes. Each month brings participants one step closer to regional and national events, and offers a number of opportunities for audience members to win fun prizes.
