Bring the family to the Ozark Folk Center Sept. 1-6 for a fun Labor Day Weekend celebration. There will be hands-on demonstrations in the Candle Shop, Doll Shop, Art Cabin, Leather Shop and Spinning and Weaving Shop. Visit with Bubba down next to the General Store as he whittles away the day. The Broom Squire will be dying broom corn and the Printer will be running the presses. Learn how to make soap, forge iron, sharpen a knife or throw a tomahawk.
Listen to tales of the Ozarks on the Bessie Moore deck at noon. There is live acoustic music on the outdoor stage six times during the day. Sign up when you get your tickets at the General Store for the daily tour of the Craft Village at 1:30 p.m. On Sept. 4, children between the ages of 7 and 14 can join the Young Pioneers Program at the Shannon Cabin at 11 a.m., 2 and 3:30 p.m. Children of all ages will enjoy the Folk Kids program in the Craft Shops where they can grind their own corn or weave on a loom.
Included in admission to the Craft Grounds will be a Sept. 4 afternoon seminar/workshop Remembering Grandpa, with entertainers, friends and family members sharing their fond memories of the music legend, Grandpa Jones. Special guest will be Kyle Cantrell Announcer for the Grand Ole Opry along with Ramona Jones and her family.
The Craft Village will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 5 and 6 in addition to its regular Wednesday–Saturday schedule. Special features in the Auditorium include Celebrity Concerts featuring Sam Bush and Marty Stewart and the Tribute to Grandpa Jones. There will be a Gospel Concert starting at 7 p.m. Sept. 5/
