Benca & Benca, a boutique criminal defense litigation firm, has earned a reputation for a team-driven approach in representing their clients in all phases of their criminal case. As a boutique firm, customer service is a priority and providing the personal touch that clients expect is a must. Patrick and Kara handle a relatively small number of cases to ensure each client's case gets the complete attention it deserves. The Benca's make themselves available day and night by phone, email, and text messaging. Patrick and Kara's time is always well spent, which results in them being fully prepared when it comes time to preparing motions, attending hearings and trials. Clients are a key member of the Benca & Benca team and are involved in all decisions throughout the case. Criminal defense cases are typically stacked against their clients and Benca & Benca work to level the playing field against the prosecution's team which typically includes at least two prosecuting attorneys and easy access to law enforcement resources, investigators and experts. Benca & Benca battle the prosecution for their clients and offer access to a number of experts in a variety of fields, including investigators. Casemap® and Timemap®, the latest case management software is often used in isolating the relevant and unique issues that each case presents. Patrick and Kara have successfully litigated all criminal matters, including, but not limited to, drug charges, violent felonies, sex crimes, white collar crimes, and post-conviction matters. No case is too small or large, and realize all cases can be life altering to the client. They are a husband and wife team and enjoy strategizing their clients' cases in and out of the office. Recently, Patrick was instrumental in presenting a rarely used Alford plea which resulted in the immediate release of the "West Memphis Three" while also giving them the ability to maintain their innocence – a position they have always maintained. Damien Echols, Patrick's client, was on death row for over 18 years.
