Banks highest recognition and service was when he was nominated By President Ronald Reagan and confirmed by the United State Senate to serve as United States Attorney from 1987-1993. Through the years, Banks has been favored by his colleagues for recognition of his efforts in the courtroom. He considers one of his highest accolades to be when he was elected President of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association. Banks has been admitted into the American Board of Trial Advocates and maintains membership in the American Association for Justice, among other professional organizations. Banks believes that service is the foundation of the legal profession and that it is important to give back to and to serve the citizens. Banks was voted one of the Best Lawyers in Arkansas by the Arkansas Times in 2002. Banks' law practice involves courtroom trials in both white collar criminal defense and in civil disputes. In his spare time, Banks "plays a little golf, enough to know not to take it up as an occupation."
